To this end, we are seeking:
Workshops
Paper presentations
Book talks
Panel programs
Electronic research posters
All of which address the conference theme as well as others relevant to Islamic chaplaincy, Muslim mental health, and American Muslim leadership. We are especially interested in proposals that address:
Story telling from the grandmother and grandfather Muslim chaplains
Paper talks from those researching Muslim chaplains
Practical theologies of chaplaincy
Islamic frameworks for thinking about chaplaincy & pastoral care
Curriculums used by Muslim chaplains (including psychiatric groups)
Field (i.e. healthcare, corrections) specific programs
Curricular approaches used for training Muslim chaplains
Histories of endorsement agencies
Histories of Muslim chaplaincy organizing
Ideas for what Islamic chaplaincy could look like in 2050
Critics of the current state of the field or specific elements of it
Visions for board certification specific to Muslim chaplains
We are looking for presenters who have solidly developed their topic area, and who are able to inform a diverse audience and deliver insightful engaging presentations. We particularly welcome presentations relevant from seasoned providers that can provide a depth of thought while also remaining accessible to students in the field. We also welcome those interested in concept presentation round tables exploring ideas that are not fully developed with a table of colleagues for informal discussion. All proposed presentations and programs must be submitted through this Google Form by November 8, 2024. The form asks the following questions:

A 50-200 word bio for each presenter
Headshot for each presenter sent as jpeg, tif, gif, or bmp
Session title
A one sentence/100 word maximum summary for the program book
Program goals and rationale for sharing it
What area of chaplaincy, if any, is this workshop best suited? (i.e. Education, Community, Healthcare, Military, Corrections, Educators, Students)
A list of resources and/or bibliography, if appropriate
Target skill level of audience (beginning, intermediate, advanced) for presentations
AV needs (i.e. PowerPoint, audio, video, etc.)
Presentation time preference
Considerations
Session slots are 60 minutes (including 15 minutes for questions). You may be asked to present as part of a 2 or 3 person panel. Limited consideration will also be given for a two-session workshop model. Slide decks (i.e. PowerPoint, Prezi etc.) will need to be submitted by February 10. 2024 Conference: Integrating Faith & Practice
In January 2024 we held our third independently organized conference on the theme of Integrating Faith & Practice. Our event featured over 30 workshops as well as Keynotes from Drs. 2022 Conference: Re-Connecting
In February 2022 we held our second-ever independently organized conference on the theme of Re-Connecting. By bringing together AMC members from all over the country, we addressed ways of strengthening relationships, facilitating an exchange of ideas, and promoting spiritual growth as well as development in our faith communities. Our event featured over 30 workshops as well as Keynotes from Dr. Omar Suleiman, Dr. Walead Mosaad, and Ch. Tahera Akmal. 2021 Conference: Rooted in Faith
In January 2021 AMC held its first-ever independently organized members’ conference, titled Rooted in Faith. The conference was held virtually on Hopin, and featured two days of substantive programming reflective of the diverse field of chaplaincy. Our conference was keynoted by renowned speakers Dr. Omid Safi and Dr. Kameelah Mu’min Rashad, alongside several other notable workshop and session leaders.
